Bullamakinka Select Sire and Female Sale

The Bullamakinka stud is based on a 5300 acre, improved brigalow belah property situated in North Bungunya (Bullamakinka is approx 90kms N/W of Goondiwindi). The stud was originally commenced with the grading up of Eidsvold Station females purchased in 2001 and the purchase at dispersal and reduction sales of select stud females from Erin Vale, Kelly Wallah, Santa Park, Douglas, Warenda, Yarrawonga Waco, Rosevale, Wave Hill and more recently Kolodong.
The investment that Bullamakinka has made in sourcing elite females has enabled our breeding program to utilise the broad genetics of the herd.
Last season we have joined approximately 340 stud females with our leading sires including Canowindra Gold Edition, Warenda Sentry (P), Warenda Random, Strathmore Z218, Rosevale Quilpie Z292, Greenup Francesco Y38(P) and Warenda Sleuth (P) as well as implementing an AI program using leading US and Australian sires.
The Bullamakinka stud has always invested heavily to buy the best genetics available and in 2009 we purchased a magnificent sire in Canowindra Gold Edition for the top price of $28000. At 28 1/2 months, Gold Edition weighed 1110 kgs and is a very high content tropical bull. With his growth, bone, type and softness, Gold Edition is typical of the santa cattle we aim to breed. His calves have dropped in the spring of 2010 and we are very impressed at this stage and we look forward to presenting his sons for sale in 2012.
At Bullamakinka, we are committed to producing easy doing, fertile, soft santas with good muscle and type that are bred from a very broad genetic base. Particular emphasis is on producing deep flanked, soft females with good udders. Considerable effort is also put into the selection of sires for the females we have acquired and bred. All of the sires are used in single sire mobs and considerable pressure is placed on our sires to deliver the goods. The cows are monitored each year for the quality of calf they produce and if they are not consistent breeders they are culled from the herd. Every cow is also preg tested each year and pregnant cows are vaccinated each year with a booster shot of Pestiguard and 7in1.
The total Bullamakinka herd is performance recorded with scans and 200,400, and 600 day figures submitted to breedplan each year. Breedplan information is used by our stud as an additional tool to assist us with the breeding selection process and may assist potential purchasers with their selections.
